About
The Cheney Research web site (www.cheneyresearch.com) is an attempt to translate to other parties clinical concepts and strategies developed by the Cheney Clinic and deemed useful in the treatment and management of Chronic fatigue Syndrome (CFS). The Cheney Clinic is a research oriented, state of the art treatment facility located in Asheville, NC. The clinic possess the perhaps unmatched experience of over 25 years in the field of CFS, held by its director Paul R. Cheney MD, PhD.
In addition to his experience which goes back to 1985 and the Lake Tahoe CFS epidemic (Buchwald and Cheney et al, Ann Int Med, 1992), Dr. Cheney has developed over many years a set of techniques and often novel conceptual approaches that have been clinically tested and subjected to peer review at international conferences as well as publications.
Dr. Cheney’s background as a former physicist (PhD, Duke Univ.) and research associate in the Division of Tumor Immunology at the CDC (1976-77), has been important in his research efforts to seek out fundamental principles that operate in the management of complex medical illnesses such as CFS.
This web site translates the most useful concepts and treatment strategies that underlie evolving views of Dr. Cheney which can be accessed by his personal blog that is organized by date and topic. The web site also contains videocasts on specific topics which are the key to Dr. Cheney’s current thinking and powerpoint lectures with audio of his most recent talks.
